View Full Version : Who is your favorite Steeler?

12-06-2008, 05:58 PM
Since I am sick of analyzing this weeks matchup and since there is an in flux of new posters here--I pose 2 questions.

Who is your favorite Current Steeler?
Who is your favorite all time Steeler?

:tt1 :tt2 :Steel

I would have to say James Harrison is my current favorite. While I will always have a special place in my heart for Jerome Bettis.

Former - There is no former...once a Steeler always a Steeler. Besides, I can't pick just one! :D

Hmm...tough one.

Current...Anthony Madison.

Gotta be Jamain Sephens.

After those two?

Ben Roethlisberger currently &.....Levon Kirkland.

Any time a 270+ lb guy can run like he did- that's pretty cool.

If I were forced to make a pick that's probably who I'd go with too. I still remember him, in a game against the Bills, covering a zone downfield. The Bills TE was open behind him and #99 showed his mad hops (yes, mad hops) by jumping straight up and tipping a pass a man his size has absolutely no business getting to.

Like in the past, how can you have just one with all the stellar players that this franchise has had in its ranks. Truly proud to be a fan. :x (the only smiley that looks asian)

I don't want to be the first to violate the rules, BUT your smiley looks more constipated than Asian. Just saying.......

Also, if I get to choose more than one past Steeler........I'll choose Rocky Bleier. He (and the Chief) represent Steelers football the way I think it should be. 8)

Current: Hines for sure for me.

All time: Its a vanilla pick, but John Stallworth. Only because that was the first football card I ever remember owning, and it made me start liking the Steelers when I got it. Its because of him I am a part of the Nation! :tt1 (well that and growing up in Cleveland and watching kids wear dog bone necklaces to school...that just downright wrong :brownssuck )

Current: Polamalu

Past: This is a hard one especially growing up with those 70's Steeler greats. Between Lambert, Mean Joe, and later Woodson, Lake and Lloyd. But as a kid I really Idolized Swann, so #43 AND #88 IT IS....

Oh that and the chic in Shades sig! :Boobs

Offense: Hines- a flat-out no-brainer here. He's going to the HOF when he's done. The others won't get near it or still have work to do.

Defense: Silverback- what a player and what a disposition. He's a throwback to the Steel Curtain-era Steelers, for sure.

Offense: The Bus- was a fan of his before he ever donned the B & G when he played at ND. His skills as a RB meant everything to me and he will one day be included in the Steelers wing in Canton!

Defense: Lambert- embodied everything the prototypical Steeler should be. No-nonsense, tough-as-nails, nasty as hell, and played like a much larger man but could do everything the little guys were paid to do as well. A complete LB if there ever was one.

12-07-2008, 03:46 AM
Now: Carey Davis

Then: Weegie Thompson

No really.....just playin' :D

Now: Hines Ward - the guy is a beast. He has been a stud for over 10 years now, and has contributed more to the team than anybody other than Bus in that time period.

Then: Louis Lipps - he was the only thing we had on offense when I was a kid. Stallworth was still here but Lou was the kid and was electrifying. He wasn't the best receiver but he was pretty darn good considering the QB's that were throwing to him in that era!

Funny how no one has mentioned Big Ben...

Currently, I have a man crush on James Harrison.

Historically, i have idolized Jack Lambert my entire adult life.

Same as you Nor-Cal!

My seconds are Ward and Lynn Swann who I idolized as a kid.

Others I really like are Mel Blount, Bleier, Ernie Holmes, Woodson, Lloyd, Dermonti, Kordell, Porter, and of course...Big Ben. My girl likes Polamalu.

After reading this thread, I wanna change my mind again.

Good combos:

1. Ernie Holmes (better than Mean Joe for a short stint)
Arron Smith (may be the most underrated DLineman in our history)

2. Greg Lloyd - nasty
James Harrison - nastier

3. Dirt - amazing, best linemen on either side of the ball
Hines - makes everyone around him play harder

4. Maddox - beating Cleveland in the playoffs was one of the best QB performances I've ever seen
FWP - When he scored on the log TD run in XL, I've never been more excited after 1 play

5. Kirkland - amazingly fast for a big guy
Keisel - even faster and an even bigger guy

I could go on all day thinking up combos......Thanks for the question....
