Hi All -

I'm wondering if any of you guys might know shortcuts to make forum life a little easier.

Like I just learned a few weeks ago that F5 does a refresh. That was great!

Is there a shortcut to go to the previous/next web page without having to mouse to the top corners of the screen?

And you know when you want to put a smiley, so you mouse over there, then when you get back to the message box, the post has kind of jumped up to the top, away from where you were typing? Then you have to scroll way down to where you were typing, :-( Any way to get around that?

And finally, any key we can press to get Ben another 0.8 seconds before the pocket collapses?

Thanks!

I would recommend just slamming your head against the keyboard in this instance. One of those keys that are crushed by your face is bound to be the right one.

Thanks, MJG, I've got XP though.

And thanks RBurgher, but I tried that during the last game and it didn't work!

You can install firefox (and add-ons) on XP. That is what I have.

Thanks, MJG! Is there a way to get my "Favorites" Windows sites over easily, or gotta reset up a folder structure for that?

Firefox will import them from Explorer quite easily.

Correct. I love Firefox and some of the add ons are quite good especially ad-block. I just wish I could use it at work.

I'd love to have internet at work.... :( Rather than blocking certain sites or certain types of sites they just block the whole damn web.

OK, I'm on FF here, thanks for your suggestion.

It'll take a while to get used to it, I've never used anyting but Windows, but for less pop-ups, it'll be worth it.

Now that you have Firefox you need this (http://adblockplus.org/en/).

Also, have you noticed the built in spell check with Firefox? It's awesome!

MACs are for people that are smart enough to invest in superior technology, pay a little more for that superior technology and never have to worry about trashing their complete computer system because they've caught an internet virus.

Haven't clicked on some of the links provided but backspace takes you to the previous page and shift backspace takes you forward (if there is a forward)

Hey, that is very cool!

Any help with another please?

Internet Explorer has this very neat keyboard command where you can open up a duplicate page (i.e., whatever page you were in, the same page will open up in a new window when you do the command) with ALT F, then click on New. Those keystrokes are active here in Firefox, but instead they open up a new instance of the home page.

Anyone know how to mimic the Explorer function in Firefox?

Thanks!

Just hit Control-T and open a new tab.

Hey Djfan - Thanks for the reply!

Is there any way for a new tab that opens to be a duplicate of the original window? Like if I wanted to open a duplicate of this planetsteelers page, complete with browsing history, I'd just do "File >> Duplicate Tab" in Windows. Nothing like that here?

I don't know of one, Brother. You can google FF stuff. Or, hit the "tools" tab on the top and look there.

Sweet! Thanks snarky and DJ Fan!

Now, if I could only do this with a keyboard command instead of mousing up to the top. Comments at mozilla suggest that may be coming. How f*n greedy am I!!

Thanks again! :)

Nice to see another FF guy. You'll never go back to IE. BTW, Chrome isn't looking like a FF replacement anytime soon.

Anyone use it by preference? Let us know how you like it and why.

snarky

I use chrome out of preference because for whatever reason, I like the tabbing better. When i use FF i invariably end up with like 15 open windows. But with the tabs on the top in chrome it just works better for me. Other than that I agree that FF is better and I use it for development.

dupe tab

The good days are gone

Somehow my Firefox got updated (I'd been avoiding doing that) and the dupe tab is not supported in the update.

That was THE best thing. I may have to go back to IE, I use that function so friggin much.
