First off, before you say it, this is NOT the same as Pappy's thread. This is an analysis of the team itself.
Here are my thoughts on the season: We're a very solid, deep team with a just a few noticeable weaknesses. Our offense is better than we've been doing, we're just still adjusting and facing better D's than last year. Does that mean we can't improve? No. Here are my thoughts on what we NEED to do if we want to have a legit shot at a run in the playoffs.
OFFENSE: We have to be a better first-half team. For whatever reason, we've been playing catch-up a lot. We HAVE to utilize Miller more in the passing game and be more creative with our plays. Ben needs to get rid of the ball quicker, but at the same time the O-line has to block better. Having Ariens as our OC however really is going to be a handicap on us.
DEFENSE: To be honest, I was worried about them before the season, mostly because of the D-line. But they've turned out to be really deep and very skilled in all positions. The only real criticism I have is that they have to be better at the short passes and giving up 3rd and long.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Much improved from last year. However, our return game is still rather lackluster at this point. Not having Mendenhall in there hurts.
If we can improve these areas, specifically that with the offense, we are a LEGIT Superbowl contender. We are a better team than last year, we just have a few correctable kinks to work out. :tt2
What do you guys think? Anything you'd add?
