First off, before you say it, this is NOT the same as Pappy's thread. This is an analysis of the team itself.

Here are my thoughts on the season: We're a very solid, deep team with a just a few noticeable weaknesses. Our offense is better than we've been doing, we're just still adjusting and facing better D's than last year. Does that mean we can't improve? No. Here are my thoughts on what we NEED to do if we want to have a legit shot at a run in the playoffs.

OFFENSE: We have to be a better first-half team. For whatever reason, we've been playing catch-up a lot. We HAVE to utilize Miller more in the passing game and be more creative with our plays. Ben needs to get rid of the ball quicker, but at the same time the O-line has to block better. Having Ariens as our OC however really is going to be a handicap on us.

DEFENSE: To be honest, I was worried about them before the season, mostly because of the D-line. But they've turned out to be really deep and very skilled in all positions. The only real criticism I have is that they have to be better at the short passes and giving up 3rd and long.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Much improved from last year. However, our return game is still rather lackluster at this point. Not having Mendenhall in there hurts.

If we can improve these areas, specifically that with the offense, we are a LEGIT Superbowl contender. We are a better team than last year, we just have a few correctable kinks to work out. :tt2

What do you guys think? Anything you'd add?

The biggest thing that stands out about the 1st half is we are 6-2 with more injuries than I've ever seen. If we can stay relatively healthy down the stretch we could make a deep run in the playoffs.

Yeah I would say the problems of last year are not as prominent this year (with exception to the O-line, and thats a big one).

Our special teams coverage is much improved. Our pass coverage is way better (likely thanks to the awesome pass rush). Our D-line is keeping fresh (did I see Eason get a sack last night! ).

So those were some of my big "things to fix" in a thread here just prior to the season starting. I think they have done a good job and have shown improvement.

The offense MUST get on track or they aren't going anywhere in the postseason.

If we played Tenn tomorrow the final score would be -8 to -6.

Yeah somehow Colon or Starks would be involved/contributors to the negative points scored.
