View Full Version : Seriously, what do you think Tomlin and Arians

were discussing at the end of the game? Tomlin didn't look too happy and Arians had a look on his face like he was getting chewed a new one. He just nodded and took whatever Tomlin was saying.

I'm sure there will be plenty of facetiousness here, but seriously, what do you suppose Tomlin was saying to him?

I thought it was Zierlein not Arians but I am not sure.

All I know is that Tomlin should take over the playcalling and see if he can do any better.

Both OC and OL should be fired.

Benny - It's hard to tell, the guy was wearing a hat and had a scruffy gray beard. I looked at the Steelers website and both of them are gray but neither has a beard.

So now I'm not sure. :?

Tomlin-Bruce,you f'ing blow.Your pathetic play calling cost us yet another game.If it weren't for the fact that you have naked pics of Kevin Colbert's wife,I'd fire your ass.

Hopefully it was something along the lines of "you better take the F-n Greyhound bus dude".

Tomlin has no room to complain however, because the call to go for it on 4th down at the end is a mistake that the greenest high school coach doesn't make. Two years in a row and Tomlin makes an unbelievably unsound decision in crunch time...not good.

Arians however should be embarrassed. I thought he was coming around in terms of embacing the short passing game and today when it was so obviously needed from the get go (along with a myriad of other aides, I've mentioned) he came up craps every time.
If Arians continues to be this stupid/ stubborn he should be fired. Now is not the time to do it, but he needs to be on a short leash with explicit instructions to quicken the quarterback drop and pace of the game. Granted we went against a stout run defense today, but we should have adjusted in the first quarter and never did.

Arians sucks.

Tomlin screwed up royally.

Those are my opinions.

I have been shouting out about this Bruce A for a long time. He completely sucks. He has no idea of adjustment, and is as predictable as a drunk whore at a bar near closing time.

I have heard some on here the last two weeks saying he has come around. I just shut up and let it happen because I thought that maybe that was correct.

I'm right, and whomever said that about BA is wrong.

Hey Tomlin, it's leadership time here, Sir! Get busy with a new OC. NOW!!!! Letting the coaches do their job with a hands off approach has its limits, and it has been reached.

And if you are afraid Ben would not do well with a new system during the season then take over the playcalling from Arians and fire him at the end of the season!

While I agree to a point,Tomlin is a defensive minded coach.Do you want him handling the O play calling...................not that it could be much worse??

Well..... We have what we have... There's nothing you nor I can do about it... So I guess we just better get used to the fact of it all and deal with it...

...Arians is lackluster and cannot make any adjustments whatsoever. ... So we work with it... I guess we must just simply get the lead and keep it... Otherwise, the game is done.

...How many remaining games can we do that?

Even D LeBeau? I am tired of his 12 yard cushion on the receivers, that allowed the cheaters to eat our cookies for the last few years, but other than that he seems OK to me.

But the rest of these bums? Adios.

He's the head coach of this football team now. Defensive preferences or not he runs the whole show. He better be capable of calling offensive plays!

And that's EXACTLY what should be happening. I dont think we need a male cheerleader on the sidelines...we need a coach. A LEADER of this football team. Arians doesnt lead the offense, and Zierlein cant get anything together on the OL. It's Tomlin's JOB to show up and do the right thing...be the leader, and make the calls.

Just my opinion.

The defense isn't the problem, not even close. They gave up 17 to the Texans and 14 was in garbage time, they gave up 6 to the Browns and 15 to the Eagles that hung 38 on the Cowboys last Monday night.

If you hold any NFL team to 15 points you have to expect to win the game. The defense was awesome today, they were on the field a lot.

:Agree ...and it needs to include Colbert. And remember, Tomlin did not get to "pick" his OC, it was mandated by Colbert to ease the transition. It's time to give Tomlin a GM who shares his vision, the coaches he wants, the players he needs & the money to get it done.

x2

I think Tomlin needs to be given the chance in the offseason to bring in his own staff with people that he is comfortable with. I am sure the Dick Lebeau will be kept on the staff for as long as he wants to stay, and I am sure that won't be a problem.

As far as Colbert, I think he gets one more offseason to improve this team in the trenches and if it is not done, then yes, he needs to be shown the door.

If Arians survives this season then I'll shiiiiit eggrolls. WTF. How can you crap away the talent level of this team with schemes that do not work and also rarely capture the strengths of the individual players within our O. Spread offense? The only thing Arians is spreading are his butt cheeks... to every defensive coordinator that we face.

I think everyone needs to settle the @#$% down.

Last week, people were badmouthing every writer that had the gall to put the almighty Steelers as low as #5 in their own personal power rankings because we were surely Super Bowl bound.

This week, everyone on this board seems to want to fire the G.M., head coach, offensive coordinator, offensive line coach, special teams coaches, etc. because we are the suckiest sucks that have ever sucked.

News flash: this organization does not make rash judgments like that. I'll leave it to Al Davis to fire coaches 3 weeks into the season.

While the "fire everyone" chant is premature and uncalled for; it's certainly not out of line to question what the @#%$ the offensive coordinator is doing?

CLE game - 3-12 on 3rd down conversions. Philly - 2-13 3rd conversions. Attrocious! Haven't scored a TD in 6 quarters. They brought in a FA (Moore) as a 3rd down specialist with great hands and he doesn't get one pass yesterday. NO answer whatsoever for the rush. No screens, no passes to the flats, quick slants. No adjustments at half time.

Cleveland is awful and the cowboys hung over 40 points on the Eagles. The schedule only gets tougher and Phily drew out the blueprint for all teams on how to play D against the Steelers.

It's far from panic time but changes need to be made and if they are not then getting a new OC who plays to the strengths of what he has on the team is in order.

Wow! Lose one game and we are firing the entire coaching staff and putting the head coach on notice. Thank God you guys can only influence your silly little fantasy football teams and have no control over a real team or organization.

A little perspective goes a long way. :HeadBanger

:Agree

We have a lot of talent on offense, but we just aren't utilizing it. We aren't adapting, we aren't taking advantage of all our weapons, and we're just plain predictable.

I'm all for giving the staff a chance, but if Arians doesn't show any improvement this season, then I'll buy his plane ticket out of here myself. The NFL is not a place for projects these days, especially coaches. And if Arians doesn't change his ways by the end of this season, he never will. And I'm not about to see our franchise QB get pummeled against every two-bit defense in the NFL just cause Arians doesn't know how to call a screen pass. So as far as I see it, it's do or die for our OC.

I disagree. The only adjustment Arians made was keeping a TE and RB in to help block, which put fewer receivers in patterns.

The OL coach deserves blame, but I put more on the OC.

Any truth to what I've heard that Miller is not a great blocker? That really limits his ability to get on the field against blitzing D's ... which we should expect for the indefinite future.

As I posted elsewhere, BA continues his penchant for putting square pegs in round holes including; getting rid of FWP's blocking FB, keeping a pass-catching TE in to block, having a speed RB run between the tackles, using a slot receiver to run deep routes, ignoring a pass-catching RB as an outlet option....the list goes on and on.

BA ruined a young QB's career in Clownsland, he may just do it again here.
