Just thought I'd throw a "special" thread out to the fabulous special teams play so far. Ligashesky took a ton of crap last year...deservedly so. Their coverage units are great so far. Now if we could a guy to actually catch punts and KO's we'll be rollin!

Props to the coverage anyway. I agree with you.

I remember my big 2 or 3 concerns prior to the season in one of the preseason threads were KO/PR coverage and OL Pass Blocking. So far both have been okay with the coverage a drastic improvement over last year like you say. Ben's been taking hits though, so I think that one is still a big concern...but seems better than last year. Its kind of hard not to be as bad as last year.

I think my other concern was Pass Coverage and our DB's are playing fantastic after two games.

Agreed, except: I hope our return guys or lack thereof don't cost us a game like they nearly did last night

i can't imagine trying to field punts of KO's in 40-50 mph winds. it's too soon to judge the quality of our special teams - but I don't think last night should factor in.

I would agree with you except cribbs was catching them with no trouble. I still say put holmes back there and be done with it

I think Santonio is too valuable to the offense to risk having him return punts. I have Jason Sehorn style nightmares. No no no no!!!

Kudos to the kicking teams as well. Reid has been solid on kickoffs and had no trouble with the FG in the wind.

Also Berger had a great night of punting (which was good since they had him out there all night). Avg of 45.5 , a 55 yarder, and dropping 4 inside the 20. Good stuff!

I dont think Mendenhall should be returning kicks. I dont think Santonio should be returning kicks either though.
