ABOUT THE BROWNS

OVERVIEW
A 10-6 record in 2007 marked the first time Cleveland was above .500 since 2002, but the
Browns missed the playoffs on tiebreakers. After the 2006 season, Coach Romeo Crennel
rebuilt the offensive line with free agents and No. 1 pick Joe Thomas; this offseason the construction centered around the defensive line. Expectations are higher this year than in any since the Browns rejoined the NFL in 1999.

THE BROWNS OFFENSE
Derek Anderson emerged as the stabilizing force at quarterback the team was lacking, but
Crennel would like him to cut down on the 19 interceptions he threw last season. Outside of turnovers, all the pieces seem to be in place here to compete for a playoff spot in the AFC.

THE BROWNS DEFENSE
An inability to stop the run or generate a pass rush led the team to trade for defensive
linemen Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams. But a season-ending injury to Daven Holly has left the team very thin at cornerback, where second-year pros Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald will be the starters.

THE BROWNS SPECIAL TEAMS
Joshua Cribbs, currently nursing a high ankle sprain, has returned kicks for TDs vs. the Steelers in each of the last two seasons.
