Was I the only "valued customer" that recieved a cool 2008 Steeler season schedule from Directv for this coming season?.... Hell, they already have me on the hook for The Ticket and Superfan.... Guess I am "special"!......

Seriously though, here is my question:

Has anyone received pre-billing notification of Gameplan, for those of you that also subscribe to the college football service?... I usually get the initial notification at the same time as The Ticket, but this year I didn't... I also haven't even seen any advertisement for it so far... It seemed that last season most of the "big" games were on other channels, and the Fox sports channels carried more games as well.... Could they be "doing away" with this particular service?

I got one too from Direct TV. It's the least they can do considering I am about to hand them 300+ dollars to watch the Steelers.

If I remember right there was a time when Direct TV asked you your favorite team so they can send you information on upcoming sporting events on television. I think they are piggy-backing off of that and sending favorite team schedules to their "Sunday Package" subsribers.

Wha???.... Did they raise the prices and I threw that notification away? .... Or are you including Superfan into the equation?.... ($225 + $100= $325)

LVG, I know you are a die-hard football fan as I am, so do you have the college package?.... That's what I'm wondering about.... What's the story with it?.... I haven't seen any advertisements nor indications on my bill that it is forthcoming.... Man, I love being able to swith between the channels (775-785), as well as network, ESPN, and fox pkg channels (600-699) and getting all the college games...

Damn!.... I thought I was "special" and the only one that got a schedule!....
Just kidding, obviously....

I'm including Super Fan in the price. I haven't seen anything with college but then again I don't subsribe to it. Out here we get pretty good West coast games and UNLV and I never felt a need to buy it. If their is a can't miss game during the week that isn't on television I will actually take the trek to a casino and watch it on their dime. :Beer

I have not received a schedule in the mail. I'm wondering if it's a superfan thing. I haven't upgraded to the HD DTV box yet, so I see very little point in subscribing to superfan. not to mention that on the free preview, I find all of the stats features very slow and clunky that it's easier to just have my laptop handy to check them online.

I had DirecTV for the first time last year. The signal was so poor and inconsistent that I broke the contract and am back with cable now. (I had several of their technicians trying to fix it at numerous times, but then any rain or slight breeze seemed to make it go out while some neighbors' DirecTV would be crystal clear unless a blizzard hit)

I've had DirecTV's Sunday Ticket for a number of years now and rarely had a problem. I don't know how I lived without it :Beer I have often wondered how/why the NFL would only select one provider such as DirecTV and not opened it up to cable subscribers also. It's not like fans wouldn't pay the yearly fee.

I've been fortunate not to experience any issues with Directv, except for a few blackout issues which are usually resolved quickly....

....But has anyone heard any news about Gameplan?... :?:

I received my info on Gameplan. It states on the flyer that Kentucky is being blacked out though.

Sorry.

I will never understand how some people can have this much trouble with their DTV. I have had it for 10 years now, in a heavily wooded area, and have never, and I repeat never lost my signal during anything other than heavy thunderstorm activity. I'm certainly not doubting their problem, they have no reason to lie about it, but I just don't understand how that happens any way other than faulty installation.

Same experience here. We get near perfect signal, better than cable. I'd never go back to cable. No one gets more or heavier thunderstorms or lightning activity than we do in Central Florida and at most I'll lose signal for 5-10 minutes. If you have more problems than that, I'd get a service call to check the equipment.

:Agree Most of those who are dissatisfied with DTV say they have been on the phone with/had a tech out and it could not be fixed. I don't get it, but maybe I'm just lucky. I agree with the outtage time mentioned above, never more than 5-10 mins, depending on the storm, which never really last all that long, rain maybe, but not heavy storms, and the heavy storms are the only time I lose a signal. I have always been a heavy suporter of DTV, mostly because I hate Comcast raising rates year after year. I am still grandfathered in at my DTV rate and it won't change. If they lose Sunday Ticket, I will dgo with whomever has it, but I truly stand behind my DTV and tell everyone I know.

We had an HD-DVR, because we have the big screen HDTV and have weird schedules so most of the TV we watch is taped on the DVR. While the standard signal was pretty good most of the time, the HD signal was the most unreliable thing ever. I don't think I ever recorded an HD program without it going out for a few minutes of every show. If I was watching it live, I would just switch over to the standard signal briefly, and it wouldn't be a major issue. But with recorded shows, I've had HD movies that were virtually unwatchable because the sound would kick out on the recording every few minutes. I've lost entire periods of playoff hockey games I've recorded. I eventually stopped trying to record anything in HD, which kind of defeats the purpose of choosing DirecTV because it had the widest offering of HD programming. Technicians would come, tinker with the satellite, it would be okay for 4-5 days, then back to the same stuff shortly thereafter. They were offering me further discounts to stay, but having a product that actually worked reliably was more important to me than the money. After numerous attempts to fix it, they could not get it working even reasonably well, so I reluctantly moved back to cable again. Trust me, I would choose a functional DirecTV over cable any day of the week...the prices and channel offerings were superior, but I want to be able to turn on my television and know it is going to be able to work (instead of complaining to satellite reps on the phone mulitple times per week).

Ruthless, I had the same issue when Directv first started broadcasting HD shows... But it eventually cleared up. ... Can't say why or what caused it, but it was short-lived.... I also have the HD DVR and the issues were when I first got the new receiver (I've had Directv 10 years or so, just like some others...). Maybe you should give it another try if you've cancelled....

I will say that I have heard of problems, many actually, with DTV's HD signal, but I admit that I don't have that right now, I'm with my old DTV box.

Never had a problem with the old box, and the only problems I encountered were early on with HD.... Nothing wrong at all as of late (past few months).... I still think it's the best deal going....
