We had a thread on the "other" board about Steeler themed projects. For those of you that forgot or weren't on the board, here is the jeep I customized for armpit jr. for his 2nd birthday last year:

http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s119/rpmpit/DSC01599.jpg

And here is my current project. Its just about done except for the rear fender and some wiring. Which reminds me, I have to put in an order for some helmet decals!

So post some pics of your Steeler projects!!!

Dude, like i said on the other board, that is one sweetarse jeep. After seeing your pics i was going to try and do something similar to my sons power wheels quad-runner thingy but Mrs. Ghetto was not having it. she knew i would botch that thing all to hell...so to appease me we got him a helmet to wear. :tt2

You should just go for it with the quad. What's the worse thing that could happen? You basically take the thing apart, paint it and put it back together. Nothing to it really.

And is that a youth size helmet?? Armpit Jr. is gonna be Troy for Halloween and I have to find him a helmet -and a wig :D

Where'd you get the helmet?

My daughter just turned 3 on Friday and she got a nice pink jeep powerwheels
(she drives like her mother). I remember Armpit Jr's. jeep from last year and I
was thinking about it while my girl was cruising our driveway. I told my wife if
we ever have a boy, I'm definitely turning that pink jeep into a SteelerMobile.

As far as a Steelers themed project for myself, I was having discussions yesterday
about building a corn hole board. But since I'm the most unhandy person in the
history of the world, and have no tools, I'm going to have to recruit some help.

Will Lowe's or Home Depot cut the wood to my specifications? If they do,
I shouldn't have any problems until I need to cut the hole, then I'll have to
find someone with a jigsaw.

I'm not sure about Lowe's but I've seen people getting wood (and even ceramic tile) cut by the "pros" :P at Home Depot. As far as the hole goes, if you're not that familiar with using a jigsaw, jiga :) , I'd recommend buying or renting a hole saw. I'm not 100% sure Home Depot rents hole saws but I wouldn't doubt it. Its basically a huge bit for your drill and makes cutting perfect holes so much easier. If you've never seen one, here is what it looks like:

That's certainly the less aggravating route, but I'd still like to build my own. I'll have
to put together an estimate of what it would cost to build one board 3 bags and compare it to the $98.99 for a set of two boards + bags.

the SB hat for $9 a few months ago.

Paid $35 for mine the morning after in Detroit. It's been overworn to the point that the white parts aren't anything close to white anymore. I'm in the process of discoloring a Pens Winter Classic hat through extended wear at the moment.

funny thing...my hat started to discolor as well. I wonder if this is a common occurence with SB XL hats or
if these are just a few isolated instances.

Just curious...is the Steeler logo on the hat you bought a few months ago sewn on? On the one that I bought the day after the Super Bowl in Detroit, the logo is an embroidered patch, but it is not sewn directly onto the hat itself. It is actually sort of a fabric sticker. You can't really tell unless you start to peel back one of the edges. I'm actually shocked that the logo has lasted this long without falling off. I'm assuming that they just made a ton of the generic SBXL Super Bowl Champion Hats with no specific team logo on it, and then had a bunch of embroidered Steeler sticky patches and embroidered Seahawk sticky patches, and they put on the appropriate one after the game (so they did not have to donate a ton of pre-made loser merchandise to third world countries).

Okay, so since I rent the house I currently live in, I've not been able to do much in the way of Steelers projects. But, my fiance and I are currently on a 2 year plan to move back to Pittsburgh. Once there, we intend to buy a house (we're looking at moving somewhere in Washington Co., preferably with a bit of land). Anyway, we've already started making plans for our game room in whatever house we buy. Requirements for the house are a two car garage (so he can have his woodshop as well as a place to work on cars, etc.), and has to have a room where he can do his stained glass work (he does custom stained glass, currently as a part time business, but he wants to move to full time once we move up there), and it has to have a full basement, part of which we can turn into a game room. So, here are our thoughts....(keep in mind he's from Chicago, and is a big Bears fan)

1. We will of course have a pool table, and we're going to make the light to go over it. It will be a rectangular stained glass lamp. On one long side it will have sandblasted into it Pittsburgh Steelers, and on the other long side, Chicago Bears. The short ends will have the AFC and NFC logo sandblasted into them. Then, on the side that has Pittsburgh Steelers, we are going to do 16 individual squares, with each of the AFC teams logos sandblasted. On the Bears side, we'll do the same thing with the NFC teams.

2. We're going to put in a bar, and will have stained glass panels in light boxes above the bar (about 20 x 24 inches) with the Steelers and the Bears logos done in stained glass.

3. We're also going to do the floor in the vinyl tile (like they have in office kitchen's and bathrooms), but we're going to make it so that it looks like a football field (i.e. use mostly green tile, but then add in white for the yardlines, hash marks, and sidelines.

Then we're going to obviously put in various memorabilia that we've collected and will continue to collect.

I get excited just thinking about it, and I can't wait to have a house where I can do this. In the mean time, I just have fun planning it. Hoping these next few years go by quick, or that I can come up with a feasible plan to move up there quicker. The plan is (1) get married sometime this year, (2) pay off all debts (other than car payment and save up some money, (3) he works to develop some business up that way (I have family up there, so we can go up to visit about any time if he can get some clients up there), and (4) I start looking for a job up that way.

Anyway, sorry for the long response, and wish I had pictures (though I will try to post the Steeler's stained glass panel he made for someone else), but just had to share!

Hey, when we finally get everything done, y'all are welcome! I just hope it turns out as well as I've pictured it in my head.

Good luck with finishing the Colonial...it can be a lot of work restoring those old houses, especially if you're trying to restore it to its traditional state.

Hope your new home has a basement big enough for all of your Steelers stuff and big flat screen! We got a 42" for ourselves for Christmas, and it's up in the bedroom. We were going to move it downstairs once his son moved out, but I really like having it up there. So, now I think we may have to get another, bigger one for downstairs!

Unfortunately, $4.00 a gallon gasoline coupled with soaring plutonium prices has forced
me to trade in the Delorian for something more economical.

Jig, I work as a mech. design engineer and in my professional opinion, I'd consider putting a 6" to 8" spacer on the jet pack. Either that, or make sure that suit is fire and heat resistant!

Yeah, the jet pack was obviously not designed by Dr. Emmet Brown!

Newsflash:

So I tell my father-in-law about my cornhole project that I wanted to start this weekend
and he goes and builds himself a set without telling anyone. He said he'll probably paint
them buckeye colors, but maybe I can talk him into having a browns themed board/bags
for him and a Steelers themed board/bags for me.

I'm still going to build a set for my house.

As a Lowes Employee, they will cut the wood for you. Knowing my people though, they'll complain like hell about it LOL.

Now as far as the holes go, your out of luck. You can get a jig saw pretty cheap though and they come in handy. Just drill a samll hole with a drill bit to get started and then use the jig saw to do the rest.

Piece of cake.

Don't cut the holes too big, jiga.... That defeats the purpose.... Here's some helpful info on the intrinsics of the game....
