Wow, was he worth what they gave up to get him? He wasn't completely reliable in the playoffs, but came through a couple times.

That blows that he joined the team that beat him.

Apparently Conklin did it too...this may be old..sorry....it was on ESPN.com as well in a different NHL article, but I had not heard this news yet.

Wings sign Conklin
The Detroit Red Wings announced Tuesday that they have signed goalie Ty Conklin to a one-year deal.

Over the past three seasons, Ty Conklin has gone to the Stanley Cup finals twice as a back-up, with Edmonton in 2006 and this past season with Pittsburgh. Both times, his teams came up short.

Having signed a deal worth a reported $750,000, Conklin will now be looking to be on the right side of the Cup fence next spring. He was terrific in relief of Marc-Andre Fleury, posting a 18-8-5 record while Fleury was out with a high-ankle sprain midway through the season. His .923 save percentage in 33 games was second in the NHL.

Conklin will get a chance to play behind veteran netminder Chris Osgood, who split playing time the last few seasons with the recently retired (for good, one assumes) Dominik Hasek.

In the NFL, we only have Arizona as Pittsburgh West.

In the NHL, Detroit is now Pittsburgh West after signing Hossa and Conklin, while Tampa is Pittsburgh South after signing Malone, Roberts, and Hall.

By the way, jhansle just started a new NHL forum (and a new college football forum) for us today.

wow this really sucks. i was dissapointed that malone left but i said at least they have a chance at hossa. i dont get it though. it said the pens were offering a five year deal worth 7 million a year, why would he turn that down for a one year deal for 7 mill? thats a blessing actually, i wouldnt want him for that much money and for 5 years
