View Full Version : Off Topic: Boston or Cleveland?

Game 7 is today, who is everyone rooting for? I would love to see another Boston team collapse especially after everyone has already penciled them in as the champs before the playoffs began. However, to root against Boston would mean cheering for Cleveland  .

I'm going for Cleveland. I have come to completely hate every team that plays in Boston.

Cleveland. I like LeBron... but it's sad that he doesn't have enough talent around him to make the push for a championship. I think if LeBron went to Orlando and had that crew to play with..... Multiple Championships. I think it will be Boston/L.A. final.... I hate Kobe.

There's a difference between respecting a player (LeBron) and routing for Cleveland. I'm a Magic fan. My season is done. I'm not really an avid watcher of BBall unless my team is in it.... much like my football. I agree, F Cleveland.

Me too. Dammit it was a nice effort. They can't be too unhappy taking the best regular season team to the limits, but for crying out loud make a big shot when it counts people and quit chucking threes when you don't need them. It was right there for the taking and the cavs crapped down their leg...

The minute Boston losses one at home they are in trouble. You want to talk about a Dr.Jeckyl, Mr.Hyde team the Celts are it. They are one knd of team at home and a complete mess on the road. I am going love nothing more then to see another Boston area team with such high hopes go down in flames.

This is worst case scenario.

..aint gonna lie, i am a wee bit nervous about tonights game.
i am hoping all the pressure of a game 7 will get to the
Hornets. We need to hit our outside shots and not get blown
out in the 3rd qtr and we should be in a position to win.
hopefully it wont be a blow-out. (unless the Spurs are on the
giving end of said blow-out)

As far as pressure, Spurs have more pressure. Sure they've been there (to big game 7's) but people expect them to perform. I think the Hornets don't know any better and are just gonna play man. You may see them press early on, but i think they will settle in. Good luck to your Spurs. If they win, we can go back and forth about the Lakers, my favorite team.

Man, i used to really hate, i mean REALLY hate the Lake joint but that was mostly due to Shaq's fat arse. The only real douche on the team is the Zen master, Kobe is hands down the best player in the league and deserved the MVP..the combo with him and Gasol is upsetting but hopefully POP can come up with something. Good luck to your team. We owe you guys for that .4 bullish a few years ago

Well I guess it doesn't matter now but I was kinda pulling for Cleveland. I hate all NE based sports teams. It's to the point now where I have to think twice about ordering clam chowdah... shame it's so damned tasty.

Now, for the remaining teams. I was a big showtime Lakers fan back in the day... but I can't stand Kobe Bryant, even though he is amazing. So clearly, I cannot pull for them.

Being a Lakers fan back in the day led me to hate the Pistons... so clearly, they aren't my team either...

As stated earlier, I hate the Celtics as well... However, if they win it all I can take solace in the fact that KG deserves a title. The dudes been a class act forever... and he's the only NBA superstar that I can think of that's not just covered with tattoos.... Still, screw boston... So naturally, I cannot pull for them.

That leaves the Spurs. I hated Tim Duncan when he was at Wake Forest, but that's sooo 100 years ago. I think Tony Parker might have the quickest on court cuts out of anyone on the planet, and I absoultely love the way Manu Ginobli plays.... balls to the wall, man.

So I guess it's the Spurs for me.

Ha, the bumpin' cat is callin me out!! Yeah I share a similar "respectful hate" for your team as you do for mine. Blackjack Bruce Bowen is by far my least favorite player since Bill Laimbeer, hands down. But he is a solid player. I always liked Duncan in college and when he first came to the NBA. When he started winning rings I was jealous and stopped liking him (ha). Good team, should be a good series. Lakers in 6.

The Lakers have a lot of talent this year, but SA didn't win 4 titles in 9 years because their a bunch of slouches. SA and Detroit are the only two teams left that play real defense, and defense wins championships.

Spurs in 6, tough defense and Manu Genobili.

The Spurs are going to run a lot of their offense through Duncan in the low post this will help slow down the Laker fast break by making them rebound in the paint. At least, this is what I would do and would be surprised if Popovich doesn't do something similar.

The Spurs are good defending the half court game, they don't want to get into a track meet. They are beginning to age and a high intensity up and down the floor game clearly favors Kobe and the Lakers.

Should be a good series, hopefully, 7 games, but, I see the Spurs coming out of this series in 6 games.

I was a huge Lakers fan back in the day. In fact, in 85' when the Lakers won it all, and against the legendary Celtic team of McHale, Parrish, Johnson, Ainge and Bird..... I was a senior in high school. We got out 2 weeks earlier than the underclassmen because of graduation practice and all the banquet hooplah associated with graduation... the seniors would all get together at somebody's house every night to party and watch the finals. This is burned in my memory because I was the only Laker fan in a sea of Celtic fans and would often get into verbal spars.

I'm all into nostalgia, but this Laker squad is nothing like the old starting five of that Chammpionship team of Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Scott and Campbell. I remember Orlando Woolridge, Coop and Rambis off the bench..... that was a great team.

What is the NBA and why would anyone care?

I'm here in Cleveland, but I'll tell ya that I could care more about the Cavaliers...I just don't. When LeBronze leaves, he might as well take the team with him, because the Cavaliers season ticket base will drop through the floor the minute he does.

LeBronze is a big fish in a small pond here in Cleveland and he knows it. The team was barely on the radar screen before he got here and it will return to that once he leaves.

When you're in a town whose number one team is a bunch of Clowns, that doesn't bode well for your status as a sports town.
