Roethlisberger to Undergo Surgery for Broken Nose

According to reports, Ben Roethlisberger will undergo surgery to fix his broken nose that he suffered in the first quarter of a hard earned 13-10 victory over the division rival Baltimore Ravens.

During the game, the Pittsburgh Steelers sideline reported Big Ben did NOT break his nose but all reviewers including the announcers could see Roethlisberger’s nose and it most certainly looked broken regardless of the sideline reports.  After the game, Roethlisberger confirmed that he had a broken nose.

Roethlisberger broke his nose on Pittsburgh’s first series when Baltimore’s Haloti Ngata fist hit Roethlisberger in the face.  Ngata was not penalized on the play which again begs the question on whether the league has targeted the Pittsburgh Steelers and don’t apply the same standard to other teams.

“Someone just came through and a hand got through my facemask,” Roethlisberger said after the game. “The next thing you know, I feel blood running down my face.”

He spent much of the following series trying to stop the bleeding, and his jersey was soon spattered with blood.

Roethlisberger, already playing with a broken bone in his foot, still went 22 for 38 for 253 yards.

Snapshot of James Harrison Hit

How can James Harrison be fined for the below hit?  Last time I checked, this is the way you are taught to hit starting from the first practice of midget football.

If I recall correctly the technique is to drive your face mask through the players chest with your arms wrapped.  The hit below looks like picture perfect form to me.  If you can’t hit the player in the head and you can’t hit the player around the knees, and now you can’t hit the player in the midsection then how are you supposed to tackle?

James Harrison Hits Ryan Fitzpatrick

Harrison Fined 25k for Fitzpatrick Hit

Why doesn’t James Harrison learn that he should just punch a player in the face and get his 25k worth?  Harrison was recently fined for the 4th time totaling 125k for a so called “illegal” hits.  This time costing him 25k.

The hit wasn’t illegal, it was a clean it.  What is most frustrating is that Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan got into a fist fight during the game and ejected but they were only fined 25k. A week ago, Oakland Raider defensive end punched Ben Roethlisberger in the face and was ejected but he was only fined 20k.

James Harrison legally hits Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and he is fined 25k for the hit.

Huh!?!  How do you explain that Rodger Goodell?

Bills Steve Johnson blames god for dropped passes

According to Buffalo Bills receiver Steve Johnson, God was to blame for his miserable perform on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Johnson has been Buffalo’s breakout star, a 2008 seventh-round draft pick was on pace to break the club’s season record for touchdown passes.

He should have caught his 10th touchdown Sunday. He should have beaten the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime Sunday. He was wide open for an arcing 40-yard bomb. He dropped it in the end zone.

Instead, the Steelers escaped with a close victory against the Bills with a game winning field goal in overtime concluding the day with a19-16 victory.

There’s no doubt that Johnson has been having a good year but yesterday was not his day.  Not only did he drop the game winning pass, he dropped many balls throughout the day including a very catchable ball that was later intercepted by the opportunistic Troy Polamalu.  Instead of taking responsibility for his actions, he decides to blame god instead via his Twitter account..

Pass Defense Struggling

The Pittsburgh Steelers pass defense has looked nothing short of pathetic the past three weeks. Brees and co. torched the steelers secondary with short, quick passes the majority of the second half last Sunday completing a staggering 21 of 22 passes.

We as fans should of known there was a problem when the secondary made the Browns’ rookie, Colt McCoy look like a pro bowler in his first NFL start. McCoy looked good against the Steelers in Heinz Field by throwing for almost 300 yards.

The Colt McCoy torching was then followed by the Miami Dolphins, Chad Henne torching.

Things aren’t going to get any easier for the secondary. This week , the Steelers play the Bengals and the secondary will have to find a way to deal with Chad Ocho Cinco, Terrell Owens, and Carson Palmer. Let’s not forget that the Bengals beat the Steelers twice last year.

After that, Steelers face Tom Brady and the Patriots who surprisingly are looking like the best team in the NFL right now. Brady has a history of torching the Steelers secondary by spreading the ball around, and those “dink and dunk” passes. The same type of passes that Brees torched the Steelers seondary with last week.
