Ziggy Hood Talks Playoff Loss and Takes Look Towards Next Season

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Steelers Defensive End Ziggy Hood joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to wrap up the season and preview the future of the team.

Ziggy said it has been tough to swallow not being in the playoffs, but they gave it their all and just came up short.

There’s a chance going in to camp next year Ziggy will have to step up and be a leader on the defensive line because Aaron Smith and Casey Hampton may not be back, and he told us how ready he is to accept that responsibility and make this team better moving forward.

We wrapped things up getting Ziggy’s thoughts on New England Denver playing this weekend, and with his experience playing against both teams, who he thinks will advance.

Defensive Coordinator Dick LeBeau Will Return in 2012

Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau will return for the 2012 season, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Since returning to the Steelers in 2004, the 73-year-old LeBeau has signed a series of one-year contracts. LeBeau worked for the Steelers from 1992-96 before spending six seasons with the Bengals and a season with the Buffalo Bills.

In 2011, the Steelers ranked No. 1 in total defense, including eighth against the run and first against the pass, and No. 1 in scoring defense.

Report: Lebeau To Return As Steelers Defensive Coordinator

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Ed Bouchette reports sources confirm that defensive coordinator Dick Lebeau will return next season.

Lebeau has been with the Steelers since 2004 — his second stint in Pittsburgh. His first stretch with the Steelers came from 1992-97 under former head coach Bill Cowher.

Lebeau’s defense has regularly been atop the league in several defensive categories. This year the Steelers finished first in scoring defense and passing defense.

There’s no word yet on whether or not offensive coordinator Bruce Arians will be back as well. Coach Mike Tomlin said Monday at his season-ending press conference that he’d like both Lebeau and Arians to return in 2012.
