Will Ike Taylor Be Snubbed Out Of A Pro Bowl Selection Tonight?

The 2012 Pro Bowl 43-man rosters for both the AFC and NFC squads will be announced tonight at 7 p.m. on the NFL Network and the Pittsburgh Steelers look to have a few players that will make the AFC squad as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Mike Wallace both finished in the overall top 10 of the fan voting that closed last Monday. Center Maurkice Pouncey was also the top vote getter for the center position on the AFC side and Troy Polamalu was the top AFC strong safety vote getter. Roethlisberger finished with 935,535 fan votes, Wallace had 923,073, Pouncey led the AFC centers with Read more […]

James Harrison thinks Browns should be punished, but they won’t be

Steelers linebacker James Harrison has acted with defiance in the wake of his one-game suspension.  Now that he’s back at work, he’s still not fully accepting blame for his latest illegal hit.  Instead, he’s pointing a finger at the Browns for allowing the player into whose face Harrison planted a helmet to return to action…

On The Steelers: Scoreboard watching is back in vogue

Forgive the Steelers if they look a little cockeyed Sunday in Cleveland, one eye on the Browns and the other on the scoreboard. Under similar conditions in the past when playing at home, the Steelers would not show the score from the game between the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals on their scoreboard, but the Browns are in control, and, at 4-11, they have no ulterior motive.

2012 Pro Bowl – What Steelers Get the Invite to Hawaii?

The rosters and players for the 2012 Pro Bowl will be announced tonight. The game will be in Hawaii a week before the Super Bowl, January 29th. Of course if the Steelers reach their goal of the Super Bowl, it won’t matter as their players won’t play in the game.

The team should have a couple players on the AFC side, with WR Mike Wallace getting a nod with 71 catches so far with 8 touchdowns and 1182 yards. It will be interesting to see if NFL bad boy James Harrison, who has 9 sacks, gets a nod. He deserves it, and it would be a surprise if he isn’t invited to play in the contest.

Despite missing five games, LaMarr Woodley has 9 sacks and also should get plenty of consideration for a trip to the Pro Bowl. I have mixed feelings about Troy Polamalu making the roster this season. He has just one pick, and while he’s still an impact player, he’s not even close to having the season he did last year when he was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

So who do you think should make it for the Steelers?

Steelers Fans Have Interest In Cleveland, Cincinnati

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Steelers Nation is going to be challenged this weekend to cover all the Steelers’ interest with the appropriate amount of black and gold spirit.

Not only do the Steelers need support in Cleveland Stadium on Sunday afternoon, but the team also has a vested interest in what happens in Cincinnati at the same time.

Boiled down, if the Steelers win in Cleveland and the Ravens lose in Cincinnati, the Steelers win the AFC North, a first-round bye and will host a second-round playoff game at Heinz Field. Add a Patriots loss to Buffalo and the Steelers get home field advantage through the playoffs.

Cleveland fans are selling off their tickets online faster than stores are liquidating Christmas decorations so there will be plenty of room for Steelers fans to turn the final game of the season into a home game albeit two hours away.

Likewise the Bengals, despite being in the playoff picture, had 24,000 no shows last week prompting quarterback Andy Dalton, Coach Marvin Lewis and numerous other players to go public with pleas to fans to fill the stands.

Since the Steelers need Cincinnati to win, this is a rare chance for The Steelers Nation to pack into Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati and for three hours on this one day only – cheer for the Bengals.

What’s the old saying? “I’m a fan of the Steelers and whoever is playing the Ravens.” Well this is the week to put on the black and gold, grab the terrible towel, and go make noise against the Ravens. Just like in Cleveland, tickets for the game are plentiful.

Since this is New Years’ weekend, hotel rooms will probably be in short supply, but a check by KDKA found plenty available in both Cincinnati and Cleveland as of Monday night. That could change as the weekend looms. But for now Steelers fans, there is still time and opportunity to get in on supporting the Steelers and the Steelers best interest in Ohio this weekend.
